Hailing from the lush, misty mountains of Pu’er, this lot represents the modern frontier of Chinese specialty coffee. Grown in the Meng Lian county near the Myanmar border, this coffee benefits from a unique microclimate and the region’s rich, volcanic soil.
The Red Wine Natural process is a sophisticated take on traditional drying. By extending the fermentation phase in a controlled, low-oxygen environment before moving the cherries to raised beds, producers are able to develop a deep, vinous acidity and a heavy, syrup-like body. The result is a bold, sophisticated cup that mimics the complexity of a fine aged red wine while maintaining the smooth, nutty undertones Yunnan is famous for.
